31. Aran Islands

The Aran Islands are made up of three rocky isles guarding the mouth of Galway Bay. They are known for their ancient sites. Inishmore, the largest of the three islands, is home to the prehistoric fort of Dún Aonghasa. They make for a fantastic day-trip from either Galway or Doolin.

32. Skellig Michael, Co. Kerry

Skellig Michael was brought to worldwide fame after ‘Star Wars – The Last Jedi’ was filmed there. This two pinned island, located just over 11km from the west coast, is home to a well preserved sixth-century monastic settlement.

33. Temple Bar, Co. Dublin

Every night of the week, Temple Bar is packed with people. The capital’s nightlife hotspot can be a bit touristy but is still the place to go for a night on the town.

34. The Cuilcagh Legnabrocky Trail, Co. Fermanagh

The 7.4km trail meanders along a quiet farmland track before traversing a wooden boardwalk that consists of a steady climb to the face of Cuilcagh Mountain.

35. Kylemore Abbey, Co. Galway

Kylemore Abbey is a Benedictine monastery found in Connemara, Co. Galway. The abbey was founded for Benedictine Nuns who fled Belgium in World War I.

36. Leap Castle, Co. Offaly

Leap Castle, located 6km from Roscrea, is widely regarded as the most haunted castle in Ireland.

37. Titanic Belfast, Co. Antrim

A monument and museum built on the site of the former Harland & Wolff shipyard in the city’s Titanic Quarter where the RMS Titanic was built.

Glasnevin Cemetery holds the graves and memorials of several notable Irish figures. More than 1.5 million people are buried at Glasnevin Cemetery and the guided tours that are available will bring you to the graves of the most famous people laid to rest.

This beautiful waterfall is nestled in the Glens of Antrim. A short stroll from the charming village of Glenoe, steps and paths wind around a small glen with one of the most picturesque waterfalls in Ireland.

40. Croagh Patrick, Co. Mayo

An important site of pilgrimage in County Mayo. On the last Sunday in July, thousands of pilgrims climb Croagh Patrick in honour of St. Patrick who, according to tradition, fasted and prayed on the summit for forty days in the year 441.

41. Kilkenny Castle, Co. Kilkenny

Built in 1195, Kilkenny Castle was originally constructed to control a fording-point of the River Nore. Parts of this castle survive to the present day but much has changed over the centuries. There are ornamental gardens on the city side of the castle, and extensive land and gardens to the front. It has become one of the most visited tourist sites in Ireland.

42. Glencolmcille, Co. Donegal

Located in the Gaeltacht region of south-west Donegal, Glencolmcille has so much on offer. This includes fantastic hiking and loop-walks, as well as the Glencolmcille Folk Village.

43. Downpatrick Head, Co. Mayo

One of Ireland’s most beautiful coastal regions. Downpatrick Head, sitting in the Atlantic ocean, is known for not only its immense beauty but also the sea-stack, just off the coast. This sea-stack is called Dún Briste (broken fort).

Achill Island, due to its breezy shoreline is a popular spot for water sports. The island is also well known for its tall sea cliffs and pristine beaches.

45. Galway City, Co. Galway

A city with an atmosphere unlike anywhere else on the island. Galway can be used as a fantastic base for beginning to explore the west of Ireland.

46. Beara Peninsula, Co. Cork

A peninsula on the south-west coast of Ireland bounded between the Kenmare river to the north side and Bantry Bay to the south. The narrow roads and unspoiled views are a throwback to what life was like in Ireland thirty or forty years ago.

47. Dunluce Castle, Co. Antrim

This medieval castle ruin is located on the edge of a basalt outcropping, accessible via a bridge connecting it to the mainland.

Irish whiskey is booming right now! To get a taste of one of the country’s most traditional and most popular, you need to visit the Bow Street distillery. The interactive experience there gives you an insight into the history of the brand before concluding with a tasting.

Starting in Donegal and finishing in Kinsale, Co. Cork (or vice-versa), this tourism trail runs along the west coast of Ireland, through 9 counties for 2,600km. It is one of the largest coastal routes in the world.

50. Powerscourt House, Gardens and Waterfall, Co. Wicklow

An area that makes for one of the best days out in Leinster. The gardens were recently voted No.3 in the World’s Top Ten Gardens by National Geographic. The estate has some of the best views in Ireland, overlooking the breath-taking Sugarloaf Mountain and the nearby waterfall is the highest in the country.

51. Doolin, Co. Clare

It doesn’t get much more charming than this little seaside village on the northwest coast of County Clare. Doolin is known as a gateway town to the Aran Islands, which are just off-shore, as well as the nearby Cliffs of Moher and Doolin Cave.

52. Slieve League, Co. Donegal

A mountain on the Atlantic coast of County Donegal, Ireland. Slieve League stands at just under 600 metres high and has some of the highest sea cliffs in Ireland. It is in fact, three times higher than the more famous Cliffs of Moher.

53. Christ Church Cathedral, Co. Dublin

Christ Church Cathedral is Dublin’s oldest building. Known for its beauty and architecture, it is home to the famous 12th Century crypt, one of the oldest and largest in Britain and Ireland.

54. Inchydoney, Co. Cork

Inchydoney is a small island off West Cork, connected to the mainland by two causeways. This beautiful island is known for its two immaculate beaches.

55. Derry

A city that is known for the intact 17th-century Derry’s Wall with 7 gates. Derry was severely affected during the troubles in Northern Ireland but has since begun to thrive as a modern city with an amazing food scene.

56. Kinsale, Co. Cork

A historic town on the southern coast. Kinsale has two 17th-century fortresses overlooking the River Bandon as well as the 16th-century courthouse building, which houses the Kinsale Regional Museum. Kinsale is also one of Ireland’s top food destinations.

57. Westport, Co. Mayo

Westport is regarded as one of the best places to holiday in the country. With a Georgian town centre, the tree-lined promenade on the banks of the Carrowbeg River, Rockfleet Castle and Burrishoole Abbey, there is certainly no shortage of attractions in and around the town.

58. Carlingford, Co. Louth

Carlingford is a town on the Cooley Peninsula, between the waters of Carlingford Lough and the mountain of Slieve Foye. Carlingford and its great scenery is a European destination of excellence.

59. Doonagore Castle, Co. Clare

Doonagore Castle is a round, 16th-century tower house with a small walled enclosure located about 1 km above the coastal village of Doolin.

60. Howth, Co. Dublin

Howth is an Irish village on the Howth Peninsula, just east of the centre of Dublin city. Popular for its clifftop trail which has sweeping sea views and the medieval ruins of St. Mary’s Abbey, Dublin natives flock to Howth en masse during the summer months.
